2009 will be a very important year for the International Track and Field Meeting of Torino - Memorial Primo Nebiolo, but also for the entire world of athletics. This will be the 10th anniversary of the death of Primo Nebiolo, one of the greatest leaders of World and Italian athletics, but also of University sport in general.

Primo Nebiolo was the greatest manager of Italian Athletics, and his passion was capable of influencing people of all ages and nationalities. He had strongly innovative ideas and his perseverance made them real, both on a National and International level. During his life he virtually won all his battles, even the toughest ones, but unfortunately he lost too early the most important one, that with his own destiny. All of a sudden, on November 7th, 1999 - when he was 76 - he died of an heart attack, and he left us bereaved of an incredible man, a real winner both as a man and sportsman. CUS Torino misses his unforgotten Great President, but also Torino, a city which he deeply loved, lost the man who made it renown in all the world.

I wish all the athletes who will be competing on June 4th 2009 the best of luck, also on behalf of Primo Nebiolo, and I encourage them all to do their best to achieve their personal goals. The 2009 edition will have to be an unforgettable Meeting and the best occasion to honour the memory of Primo, a man capable of conquering the hearts of many people all around the world!
