Many have been the obstacles, especially the economic ones, which made the Organizing Committee uncertain until the last moments. One of the goals of this edition is to bring many youngsters in Torino, a year before the next National University Championships (CNU) which will take place in the Savoy capital in May 2011. Next to speak were Gianfranco Porqueddu, Franco Ferraresi and Maurizio Damilano, who declared to be enthusiast of the chance to attend another edition of the Meeting of Torino, the sixteenth, which gives our Region another chance to promote sports - and especially the queen of all sports, athletics - on our territory. The 2010 edition of the Meeting will be starring in fact many Italian athletes, but also many great foreign athletes. Focusing on this year’s Meeting, the Organizing Committee paid great attention to speed racing competitions and especially to the 100 and 200 m. The 100 m. will see the participation of Fabio Cerutti, Simone Collio and Michael Frater (JAM - His outdoor personal best on the 100 is 9 "97 realized at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.) The 200 m. will see the performance of Josè Bencosme de Leon (although he usually runs the 400 hurdles). The 800 m will see the participation, once again, of the Sudanese Abubaker Kaki - who was the star of the last edition of the Meeting - who will have to confront himself with the Cuban Yeimer Lopez. The 5000 m. will host many African athletes ( mainly Kenyans and Ethiopians) and the Italians Daniele Meucci and Andrea Lalli. The 110 hurdles will see the participation of the Cuban star Dayron Robles (Olympic champion in Beijing 2008) and of the Haitian revelation Dominique DeGrammont. In the triple jump we will have the pleasure to see the performances of the Brazilian Jadel Gregorio and the Cuban Arnie David Girat, as well as those of the Italians Fabrizio Donato and Daniele Greco, all athletes with a personal best over 17 m. Regarding the hammer throw, the captain of our national team Nicola Vizzoni will join the competition. Speaking about women’s competitions, the 400 m. will see the participation of the Italian Champion Libania Grenot and the English Nicola Sanders. In the 400 hurdles we will see the performance of the American Sheena Tosta while in the 1500 m. we will support our Elisa Cusma (who will try a longer distance this time even though she is known to be a specialist in the 800 meters) and in the shot put Chiara Rosa. Cusma, who was present at the press conference, said: "I am honoured to be in Turin and very happy to join the Meeting once again because I won all its last editions. I have always been followed by a large number of fans in Italy, who stimulate me with their enthusiasm. My future engagements will be the Golden Gala in Rome (10 June), the Meeting of Torino and the Europeans in Barcelona. " The names of the athletes who will take place to the high jump competitions have not yet been disclosed, but Bellino ensured the presence of top national and international athletes who will inflame the audience of the Primo Nebiolo stadium.
Special thanks to all the sponsors and partners of the event and to the Sport Volunteers Association Primo Nebiolo.
